There is no set age or time when anyone should receive braces. The trend used to be teenagers would receive braces, but nowadays as adults see the benefits of having a straightened smile they too are scheduling orthodontic appointments. Nobody is too old for braces.

However, braces should only be considered for children whose permanent teeth have fully erupted (typically between ages 10-14). There is no benefit to receiving braces for baby teeth. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends children receive an orthodontic evaluation by the age of 7 to see how their teeth are developing.
